one of my colleagues has a table of contents

for his 97 page cv.

(needless to say that's pushing the upper limit: time to move to 'selected' pubs and whatnot)

but the TOC isn't a terrible idea, given that I called another of my colleagues, this one a midlevel scholar who lists way too many activities and stuff on his cv, to ask him where he got his PhD b/c I couldn't find it anywhere, and he wrote me back to tell me to look on page 25.

wha?

I guess not all of us taught professional writing.

Possibly an effective rhetorical choice

Depending on where he received his PhD, putting it on page 25 might have been an excellent choice.
