Problems with Trackback

I have to disable trackbacks for the time being due to too much $p4/\/\. Gah. More later. They haven't been deleted, just made unavailable for the moment.

having a similar problem at my blog, although i know another WP'er whose attack is being forced into moderation. he's using the blacklister http://wiki.wordpress.org/WordPress%20Blacklist%20Comment%20Spam%20Plugin

Trackback spam elsewhere

Jinkies

I got hit with a similar flood of trackback spams earlier today. Unfortunately one of the reasons that I am still sticking with stupid old MovableType (spam control tools) didn't come through as well with the pings as it has with past waves of comment spam. (Basically because there is no concept of "moderating" TrackBack pings in MovableType, so one of the layers of interdiction between your front page and the spammer is removed. The only filters that go through are the ones that are set up to block--e.g., known spammer URIs that have already been posted somewhere.)

Do you know what's available for Drupal in the way of spam-quashing utilities? If this hasn't been a matter of module development I should hope that people will get working on it soon...

You too?

I got hit hard last night - woke up to over 1000 trackbacks. Still wading through them trying to delete them all (MT 2.661 doesn't have a handy interface for deleting trackbacks). Sigh!

handy interface for deleting trackbacks

You can easily delete the trackbacks in Drupal using phpmyadmin (Clancy, you have this available via your cpanel database section). Use the SQL command

DELETE FROM `trackback_received` WHERE `subject` = '';

*omit the angle brackets after substituting the correct text; keep the single quotes

Nice thing about mysql db's :)

Me, Too

I was hit with trackback spam a couple of days ago. I get all comments and trackbacks sent to me in e-mail. I think Typepad caught it and nuked it because I couldn't find it on my blog.
